Allegheny County Airport, located in West Mifflin, PA, is an airport that serves small to mid-sized private, commercial, and corporate travel. Additionally, the airport is home to an aviation maintenance school, flight training operations, and air medical transport services.
As an iconic airport in a historic city like Pittsburgh, Allegheny County Airport wanted to redesign their boardrooms and training rooms to become a more attractive option for events and travel while staying true to its original style. To achieve this goal, Office Furniture Warehouse worked closely with the team at Pittsburgh International Airport and Allegheny County Airport to conceive this refreshed design.
Solution
The team at Office Furniture Warehouse conducted several in-person consultations with the client to gain an intimate understanding of the project. The team at Allegheny County Airport wanted office furniture that enhanced the boardrooms and training rooms without overpowering the history the airport is proud of.
To accomplish this melding of old and new, Office Furniture Warehouse provided a design layout, as well as multiple furnishing options, that made use of steel as a nod to Pittsburgh’s “Steel City” moniker. This design layout also incorporated some of the spaces’ original finishings, which is something the client preferred.
The updated boardrooms, training rooms, and lounges were fitted with chairs, tables, conference tables, desks, and other furniture that featured wood as a callback to the original furniture pieces as well as steel-trimmed pieces.
With a board meeting and open house looming for Allegheny County Airport, Office Furniture Warehouse had a September deadline to meet for this update. Orders were placed by the end of June, and Office Furniture Warehouse coordinated with the manufacturers to guarantee on-time deliveries even with the constraints of the pandemic. To help expedite the entire process, Office Furniture Warehouse also offered full-service delivery and installation.
